Metroid: Other M Review, Gameplay Trailer
Metroid: Other M is a video game in development by Team Ninja and Nintendo SPD Production Group 1 (collectively called "Project M") for the Wii. It was announced by Nintendo of America president and CEO Reggie Fils-Aime and a trailer was briefly shown during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009. The game features both 2D and 3D gameplay in both first- and third-person perspectives. Fils-Aime stated that Metroid: Other M would "take you deeper into Samus's story", and also noted that the game would be a return to the style of the traditional series as opposed to the Prime series, though the game would have a "harder edge". It is scheduled for release in Japan in Summer 2010. The title will be released in North America on June 27, 2010. A demo was released at the Nintendo Media Summit in San Francisco.
Gameplay
The game is played holding the Wii Remote horizontally, like the NES controller. Normally, the game is played in a third person perspective, where Samus can jump, shoot her arm cannon and turn into a morph ball, similar to the classic Metroid titles (however, movement is not strictly limited to a 2D plane). However, by pointing the Wii Remote towards the screen, the game changes to a first person view, where Samus can lock onto targets, fire missiles and scan objects. There are several instances where players will have to constantly switch between play modes; for example, playing in third person to fight off a hoard of flying enemies, whilst switching to first person to destroy their spawn points

the gameplay graphics look worst then gamecube graphics, and the gameplay looks like its going to be boring after you get the hang of it.

Wii owners who are gamers should be very excited about this game. Most of team ninja's games are at worst very fun to play without story. I wager that the incorporating the metroid story line with the gameplay of team ninja will be a smash hit. How can you go wrong? This will be a fun experience for just about every level of gamer from noob to hardcore.

The way I see it, Nintendo may be aiming for a compromise between the original 2D gameplay and the Prime's 3D gameplay. This way people can experience the original Metroid experience while also experiencing the more familiar Prime gameplay. Just my opinion on this.

YEAH they can look good for wii standards but i dont know why they would give up the great gameplay that you had in the prime series, i mean the one good thing about this game is theres voice overs so this might be big N's test to put it in other games, prob not zelda tho may be a starfox or other exclusive.

ya I noticed it had that RE4 feeling to it. Have to say I always loved that eerie, creepy feeling in past metroid games. I hope they push it further with this one. I want chills down my spine.

Yeah, I watched the leak. Why don't they just make that public? It'd refill a bunch of people's empty hope meters. I know it did for mine... Sheesh, Nintendo. Why so serious?
I'm also growing more and more fond of Samus' new voice actor. She seems shy and a bit unsure of herself, but there's this almost subtle layer of "divine authority" in her voice. She sounds vulnerable, but she's clearly not a lady you want to fuck around with.
